As it should appear as credit on the entry. An affiliation is optional but it is what makes a check weigh something.

One line. This is what appears on the entry.

The reasoning, for the maintainer reading this. It stays in the pull request and does not go on the entry. At least a paragraph.

A notebook, a thread, a write-up. An in-house recomputation has nothing to link to, and that is fine.

Say so if you have one. It does not disqualify a check; an undisclosed one discredits it later.

The paper, rebuttal, retraction or thread that makes the case. This is added to the entry as a challenge source.

Why the citation supports the grade you are proposing. This becomes the note on the revision record, so write it to be read later.

Being an author, or working at the lab, does not disqualify a challenge. An undeclared conflict found later does.

This is recorded on the entry as a correction, because a registry that quietly edits itself is worth less than one that does not.
